About Us
Eye of the Beholder
BEAUTY IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER
Beauty, as they say, is in the eye of the beholder. We are unique among art galleries in that we are as much collectors as we are sellers. The inventory of objects offered by us represents a collection that was put together over a period of 20 or more years. The objects of this collection have been put together from an art historical point of view. They do not necessarily reflect current fashion, trends or valuations. All of the objects are thoroughly researched, and many of them are published. Objects displayed here have a clear title and provenance and are associated with important schools and periods of Indian art.
Having been collectors ourselves, our interest is not only in selling, but also in promoting scholarship and connoisseurship. Therefore, we welcome your comments and questions – even if they are not directly related to an interest to purchase. We are happy to engage with you and share contextual and academic information about artworks and to build up a relationship based on shared interest. Unlike many galleries, we attach great importance to academic knowledge and understanding or art. While we do target collectors and buyers at all stages of their collecting careers, we are equally eager to engage with those with an academic curiosity in Indian art, or those with a passing interest or a specific question.
We do not specialize on a particular artist, genre or period. You will find watercolors, canvases, Indian miniatures and occasionally other interesting genres. In case you are looking for anything specific, please feel free to inform us.
Please feel free to browse. We look forward to being in touch with you in case you have a question, or an interest in any of the objects.
